History of Compass Business Suite

For the past 5 years, a group of people dedicated their efforts to building an automated rostering system. They were all handpicked senior consultants working at IBDC Advisory Services, a management consultancy firm established 19 years ago in Sydney, Australia.

But instead of just designing a specialised rostering engine to optimise the assignment of staff to work tasks, they decided to "put their money where their mouth was" and go the "whole hog". They produced a state-of-the-art business planning, organisation design, skills management, and productivity tool, to ensure the client's staff rosters would be responsive to "customer demand". They also incorporated a toolkit, which continuously enables managers to shape their enterprise for the benefit of all stakeholders. These benefits include improved productivity, more staff satisfaction, increased customer demand, and greater overall business flexibility and responsiveness.

The company they started, Compass Commercial Australia (CCA), named the software product, the Compass Business Suite (CBS), then packaged it so it could be delivered and installed on the client enterprise network (LAN model) or as a "no nonsense" service from Compass Commercial itself (ASP model).

Today, the product comes loaded with pre-defined roles and capabilities specifically tailored for each industry. This means that any enterprise that requires business planning, or has to roster their staff, or would like to track their competencies or careers, can benefit from CBS. Compass Commercial expects that its clients, who adopt CBS early, will be positioned to gain a strategic advantage over their market competitors.

An interesting facet of CCA's marketing proposal, is that, even though the software has so many functions and potential benefits, the savings in labour costs alone, are many times what the whole package costs to rent. And you only have to pay for the pieces of functionality that you currently need. In addition, CCA's board has developed a flexible pricing policy to pass on the advantage of the low cost of their highly refined, structured delivery methods to ensure that every business can afford to have CBS.

On the implementation front, we can provide a complete service. Our experienced management consultants have the expertise to manage the whole CBS implementation and deployment process. They also deliver training courses and on-going user help and technical support.
